DEMONS

Chadwick Tyler's work stuns me every time. You might know him from the latest Levi's campaign (with Meghan Collison and Josh Beech) and he worked with a variety of well-known models, but he's definitely not your ordinary fashion photographer. I especially consider his Demons series breathtaking.

I adore the combination of serenity and obscure, dark elements. Even with a minimalistic use of colour and often monochrome background, the portraits carry such emotion. They work on your nerves and can get quite unsettling but it doesn't stop me from gushing over each image and admiring the beauty of the girls. And even despite my usually reluctant opinion on unnecessary nudity in fashion photography, I actually think that the occasional appearance of bareness in Tyler's work contributes to that vulnerability, fragility almost, of the portrayed models.

Is there any photographer you madly admire? I'm always interested in new discoveries!

A question for the followers (but feel free to answer as well, you silent lurkers!); are there any specific things you'd like to see on my blog? I sometimes think the idea of posting an outfit online might encourage me to put more effort in my daily attire, so perhaps more outfit posts? On the other hand, I quite enjoy purging the amount of my crammed 'editorials' or 'fashion' folders and not saying very much about them, but then there's also my need to express my inner thoughts somewhere outside my personal diary, which usually results in musings about dreams or fears or other cryptic prose. Pompompom, let me know!

out of here

It's hard to stay grounded when all I want to do is fly, fly, fly. Soar into the quiet sky and flee from this human mess. But alas, these heavy limbs keep my feet on the ground, and when I clutch my shoulderblades there's no sign of dragonfly wings growing from them any time soon. Perhaps I should stop trying and embrace my mediocrity.

bonjour, novembre

Ah, what better way to escape the gloomy dreariness outside than to build chimerical castles in the air? While it drizzles and raindrops fill the gutter, I dream of moonlit walks and sleepovers, of parties that take place on a boat with windows from which you can see the glistening canal outside and I dream of falling asleep with a smile on my face. Turns out I'm a very lucky bird, because I've been living exactly those fantasies this weekend... I honestly couldn't have wished for a better start of the last month of autumn. And there's no school the coming week, so I have my fingers crossed and hope for more magic nights to come!
If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden

How are you all? Please share your hopes for november with me, I'm curious!
